Big Give Christmas Challenge 2011

Painted Children has been a member of the Big Give for some time now, and our projects are posted on the web site. We are over the moon that we are again one of the 175 charities selected to take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge. So the challenge is that we need to raise pledges to the value of £20,000 via the Big Give by November 5th. So long as we manage this Big Give will match our achievement, and we can go through to the second part of the challenge. From the 5th December 10am to 9th December Painted Children needs you very much as we need to raise as much as possible, through the Big Give link, this again will be most generously doubled by the pledges that we receive and by Big Give's Sponsor fund. With your help there is the potential to raise thousands of pounds for the women and children whom we aid. We guarantee that 100% of the money raised through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will be spent on charitable activities both in the UK and Asia.

After the success of the Christmas Challenge last year we are stepping up to the challenge again.
We will start to receice pledges during September and up until November. Between the 5th and 9th December we will be excitedly asking for any online donations that you can spare to be donated through the Big Give link. These donations will then be matched by the pledges and the Christmas Challenge Sponsor Fund, so your donations are doubled!!

Last year we raised £40,000 which enabled us to start the construction of the Floating Hospital. If we can match this this year we will be able to launch the project ensuring aid to many thousands of people living in isolated communities around Bangladesh as well as sustaining the Newham Support Project and Safe Motherhood

Police

We, at Painted Children, have recently had a very successful publication within the police Community Club Magazine. This publication is a widespread magazine, which is distributed throughout the police and the community. It has helped in raising awareness both for the work that we are doing, and helping with the work of the community clubs. We thank the police community clubs for their help with this venture, and send our best regards to them in response to their thanks to us for our help.

FRSB Judgement

The FRSB upheld a judgement against Painted Children last week with regard to that fact that the charity was fundraising on the streets of London. Complaints were made against Painted Children last year. As a charity which is very concerned for the wellbeing of the people who live around us, and the last thing that we want is to upset or offend anyone, so we do want to apologise if this is so. We do still have fundraisers out collecting for the charity to help fund the work that it does, but they only carry out awareness drives at Shopping Centres and tube stations and in stores, and only with the permission of the owners of the establishment. It is through the tireless work of the new management team that we are receiving sites to give out information and collect donations from those who wish to contribute. It has come to our Attention that we need to be extremely vigilant regarding the locations our fundraisers attend for fundraising. It must be added that it has been known for some individuals to collect using our name, but not our permission. We would like to appeal to everyone out there, if you witness a fundraiser collecting on the street in the name of Painted Children, please take their name and ID number and phone our team in the office to report this, as this is not tolerated under any circumstances. Any report will be investigated and dealt with by in the strongest possible terms. Painted Children hugely regrets the judgement made by the FRSB, we would like to assure everybody that we are working very closely with the FRSB over the next 12 months, to ensure that we fundraise in compliance with their rules and regulations. We endeavour now to demonstrate to all possible that we are an open and honest charity, and we aim to make the lives better for those who live with very much struggle, in Asia and here in London too.
